Bang Bang Game (any year)

Class/Grade/Language Level: All levels; preferably junior high school but maybe high schoolers would also enjoy it.
Textbook: Any textbook
Goal: Reading exercise; being able to listen out for mistakes.
Preparation: Little to none.
Class time: Warm-up exercise, だから about five to ten minutes.
This game generated so much excitement in one of my classes, that the Principal and some teachers came storming in to see why everyone was having such a good time. That said, afterwards we had to set some rules in place so the game didn’t disrupt other classes.
This is how it works: choose a few pages that the kids have to read. E.g., New Horizon for １年生, Unit 3 (p. 28~33). First, read the text normally once, and tell students to read along with you in the textbook. After that, read it one more time, and have them repeat after you. The third time you read, is where it gets fun.
Tell students to close their textbooks. Now read the pages again, but this time change the script a little. Only one word per sentence. For example:
Original: Your version: “Good morning, everyone. “Good evening, everyone. This is Ms. Brown. This is Ms. Gorilla. She’s our new English teacher.” She’s our new Science teacher.”
“I like soccer. “I like bananas. I play soccer every Sunday. I play Pachinko every Sunday. I like music, too.” I like Pokemon, too.”
Every time you read an incorrect word, students are to “bang” their hands on their desks. If they bang, this means they understood the mistake, and know the correct answer. So you can choose a kid who’s banging on their desk, and they have to say, e.g., “Ms. Gorilla じゃなくて, Ms. Brown.”
The sillier, more outrageous you get, the more students will get into it. Banging their hands on the table may be substituted by simply raising their hands. And obviously, the more advanced your students are, the more challenging you can make things, for example they have to read out the entire correct sentence; or you change more than one word in a sentence.
