For my idea, I think it would be good to create a field trip to a nearby location. I live in Tsunagi Town and one of the special things about my small town is its appreciation for art, which you can probably tell from all the bronze statues scattered around town. Tsunagi also has a small art museum and while I’m sure town residents have visited there on their own or have gone there on a school trip, I think it could be a different experience to go there and use English. I think it would be a good idea for students to pick one painting or artwork that they like and they would have write down the artist, the year it was created, and the country of origin, which will most likely be Japan. They would also have to add the following details: color(s) of the painting or artwork, what they see in the painting, and why they like the painting or why they think it is interesting. I think it would also be helpful to have a worksheet that would certain compositional phrases in Japanese and English such as line, abstract, shape, people, nature, etc. I think it would be a good way to think critically about art and also use English.
