Time Teachers' Role Students' Role
5-10 minutes Go over the example conversation, once, without the students repeating. Use a slightly slower than normal pace. Listen to the example conversation held by the ALT and JTE.
10-15 minutes JTE and ALT will now go over the meaning of the conversation first, and then ask students to follow along. Break up the sentences. Students will follow along, saying the sentences out loud.
15-35 Minutes (20 minutes) ALT and JTE will make pairs of two between all students in the class. Walk around class making sure students understand content. Students will assign roles(One is clerk, the other is Tamaki(self-insert). Using these roles they will make their own conversation, only using the top as a guide.
35-50 minutes ALT and JTE will call up pairs randomly to perform their skit/conversation in front of the class. Students must first introduce their partner with a hand gesture and “This is X kun, he is the Clerk”. Students will go through their conversation without reading from the paper if possible.

Tamaki: I am alright for now. I will just look around a bit.

Tamaki: Excuse me. I am looking for a skirt, but I don’t know which will suit me.
Clerk: Well, let’s see… in your size we have a red skirt, and a green skirt.
Either will look good on you.
Tamaki: Can I try both on in the fitting room?
Clerk: Sure, it’s right this way.
