How the Lesson Incorporates the Four Skills

  • Reading: Students read their own work to check for accuracy and to share their work in front of the class
  • Writing: Students label the images they draw to check their vocabulary. Students incorporate labeled words into full sentences. High-level students can write a short story incorporating the vocabulary instead of writing random sentences.
  • Speaking: Students practice speaking when they share their sentences or their story out loud to the class.
  • Listening: Students listen to music with English lyrics; students listen to spoken English from the instructor when directions are provided; students listen to each other share their work aloud.
