Enjoy an evening of live music performed by some of Japan’s leading jazz musicians, featuring performances from latin jazz group Don De Don and acoustic duo Rain.Dog. There will also be an outdoor market and food stalls from some of Ashikita’s best-loved restaurants so there has never been a better time to come visit this beautiful seaside town!


Ashikita Moon Viewing Festival

In Ashikita, September’s traditional moon viewing party or kangetsukai means a chance to celebrate traditional Japanese culture.
As well as a chance to see scenes from two different Noh plays, the festival will also feature performances from Shirayuri Gakuen High School Koto Club and the Ashikita Matchlock Gun Troop.

Aso Citizen’s Recovery Festival

There is a festival on 19th of August in Uchinomaki, Aso!

There will be free entry to hot springs and a fireworks show. Each company/group will do the bonodori dance. The B.O.E. usually participates every year and they change their colours too.  The hospital workers will wear green happi coats, the city hall will wear purple, the firemen will wear red etc. The food stalls are awesome!
