Name of Teacher: Hayley Stewart

Class/Grade/Language Level: JHS 3rd grade?

Textbook and specific lesson: Review Game

Goal: To get students thinking and learning about compound words.

Preparation: Have a list of compound words ready with translations.

Be ready to create sentences using the words.
Group students and have paper and coloured pens ready.

Class time: 30 to 40 minutes depending on the teacher

Give the students an example of what a compound word is:

eg. Class + Room = Classroom
Under + Stand = Understand

Give students a minute to discuss and write before giving a hint by using the word in a sentence. Score however you would like.

After several words you can also have some bonus rounds where you draw pictures to create the compound words that they just learnt. eg. Understand could be a person standing under a tree.
