Wiki Lesson Title: What do you have for breakfast?

Textbook and specific lesson: New Horizon textbook, Unit 5 p62.
Goal: To write about what each student has for breakfast and then present it one-one with Ms. Tanya.
Preparation: 45 minutes
Class time: 50 minutes
1. Greetings with teacher – How are you? What day is it? What’s the date? How’s the weather? Next greet your friend and ask how they are. (3 minutes)
2. New word list – check pronunciation and meaning in Japanese. (5 minutes)
3. Open textbook p60-62 and review reading from previous class. Ms. Nishi explains the goal for today. (5 minutes) Ms. Nishi explains about having a loud, clear voice and good eye contact.
4. Ms. Nishi and Ms. Tanya demonstrate the scene as an example: (3 minutes)
Ms. Nishi: “What do you have for breakfast?”
Ms. Tanya: “I often have sausages, scrambled egg and toast. I also have orange juice. I usually eat it with a knife and fork. It’s delicious.”
Ms. Nishi: “Sounds great!”
5. Worksheets are handed out for students to write about what they have for breakfast.
6. Students are given 15 minutes or so to write 3 or more sentences about what they have for breakfast using the following structure in the textbook. After they finish writing, they can practice for 5 minutes or so and try to memorise the skit.
7. When students are ready and have practiced, they line up at the back of the class and present one on one with Ms. Tanya. (2 minutes or less with each student usually) Ms. Tanya asks the question: “What do you have for breakfast?” Students then reply with their answer.
8. When students have finished, they are graded and given a short piece of advice.
9. Once students have finished presenting, they return to their seats and practice writing in their notebooks or study using their review textbook.
10. At the end of class, Ms. Nishi writes a conclusion and Ms. Tanya gives feedback to the class as a whole.
